Futsal Futura

Futsal Futura U7-U8

INTRODUCTIONPROGRAM DETAILS

Futsal Futura training focuses on enhancing skills through the fast-paced, small-sided version of soccer played indoors. Futsal is known for improving a player’s technical abilities, quick decision-making, and creativity. Training typically involves the following aspects:

Key Areas of Futsal Training:

  1. Ball Control and Dribbling: Due to the smaller, heavier ball and tighter spaces, players develop precise control, quick footwork, and agility.
  2. Passing and Receiving: Fast, accurate passing is essential in futsal. Training emphasizes one-touch passes, short passes, and understanding angles to receive the ball under pressure.
  3. Quick Decision-Making: The confined space forces players to make split-second decisions, which helps improve their soccer IQ and awareness.
  4. Shooting and Finishing: Futsal provides plenty of scoring opportunities. Players are trained to shoot from various angles and positions with accuracy and power, often using different surfaces of the foot.
  5. Movement Off the Ball: With fewer players on the court, movement and positioning are critical. Futsal training teaches players to move smartly, create space, and exploit gaps in the defense.
  6. Defending: Training includes learning how to press quickly, mark opponents, and defend in one-on-one situations with limited space.
  7. Fitness and Agility: Futsal requires constant movement, so training focuses on improving endurance, agility, and the ability to make quick transitions between attack and defense.

Benefits of Futsal Training:

  • Develops technical skills that transfer to regular soccer.
  • Encourages creativity and improvisation due to the fast pace.
  • Improves fitness, especially short-burst agility and speed.
  • Sharpens decision-making under pressure.

Many top soccer players credit futsal for helping them develop their skills at a young age.

    INTRODUCTIONPROGRAM DETAILS

The Future Manitous initiative is a player-centered program for Boys and Girls in the U8 to U10 age groups. Providing a football learning environment using small-sided games and exercises, individual skill activities, and movement education as our teaching tools, Boys and Girls further develop their confidence as their ability to manipulate the ball improves along with their ability to manage the stress of playing in a reduced time-space environment.

A full seasonal program (August to July) is available within this age group, although the program is flexible and allows for multi-sport athletes to join at different times during the year. The program maintains an appropriate training to game ratio throughout the seasonal year. Boys and Girls are separated into their respective genders in this program. INTRODUCTIONPlayer Expectationstryouts + Fees

Our Manitou FC Orange teams compete within the following leagues based on the age groups: U11-U12 play in the Twin Cities Soccer League National while teams U13 and older compete in the TCSL/NPL Super League. These leagues offer different levels of play to accommodate the commitment levels, individual maturation, physical growth, and playing abilities of our teams, especially important for players U19 and younger.

Pending the team age, we participate in a number of in-market tournaments as well as entering into the following national cup competitions: USYS National Championship Series (State & Regional Cup), TCSL League Cup leading to the US Club Soccer Regional Cup. Older age teams also participate in a number of high-profile events outside of Minnesota to showcase player to collegiate coaches. These events are chosen based on their reputation and timing within the year.

It is important that players and parents have an understanding of the expectations that participation on a Manitou FC team requires. The following age group overviews have been developed to provide as much information as possible so that families can plan accordingly. Manitou FC supports multi-sport athletes within Orange and Black Team levels and asks that any athlete having such conflicts, especially during the winter season training program, communicate directly with your teams coach to coordinate schedules and attendance.

If you have any questions about the player expectations or would like further clarification about age group programming, please send an email to Edi Buro, Manitou FC Sporting Director, at SportingDirector@ManitouFC.org.
