Launched in 2020, MLS NEXT is the premier platform for youth player development in North America. With a strong commitment to innovation, access, and representation, MLS NEXT New Tier offers players exceptional training and coaching to prepare them for their futures in soccer and beyond. Currently, MLS NEXT includes 151 member clubs and serves over 16,000 players across the United States and Canada. MLS NEXT New Tier gives our players the opportunity to play and train in the highest-level environments and be exposed to MLS academy scouts, US Soccer youth/senior national team scouts, and MLS/Professional scouts.

At Manitou FC, we participate in MLS NEXT New Tier for age groups U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, and U19. Additionally, our Pre-MLS NEXT Academy program starts at U11 – U12. Pre MLS-Next Youth Academy starts at U8 – U10.

About the Elite Academy League

Launched in the 2020-21 season, the Elite Academy League (EAL) is comprised of over seventy-five member clubs who represent their market within a regional conference against other like-minded clubs who seek a higher level of competition to enhance their player development initiatives within their boy’s programs. Today, the EAL is comprised of seven conferences spanning the country with the Midwest the most recent area of expansion.

Why Participate in the Elite Academy League:

A platform of competition that provides our club with an enhanced environment for player development by providing the following:

League structure and policies support Manitou FC’s player development plans.
Provides more balanced competition against other like-minded clubs.
Allows players a “seasonal break” to play for their local high school team.
Provides a regional program of competition over several months of the year.
League calendar helps coaches build each age group’s annual training plan.
Exposure is provided to players looking to continue their soccer journey.

BOYS UPSL

INTRODUCTIONProgram Details

Manitou FC’s player pathway provides for male athletes who are looking to compete on regional level within the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL). Competing within the Midwest-West Conference, players age U17 through U19 are eligible for team selection. Home games are played at the athletic complex at White Bear Lake High School North Campus.

Founded in 2011, the United Premier Soccer League now stands as the largest and most competitive pro-development league in North America. The league was started in Santa Ana, California by Leonel Lopez, with 10 teams. Today the league has nearly 400 clubs competing nationwide, and the Premier Division for Spring 2022 has 255 clubs competing for 32 places in the National Playoff Bracket to become National Champion.

The league occupies the 4th tier of the US Soccer pyramid, just below the three professional tiers in the pyramid. With a participant average age of 22.5 years, the UPSL fills and brings structure to the large gap that exists between the youth game and the professional game, serving thousands of aspiring players and coaches as they strive to further their aspirations and fuel their passions.

Each UPSL club is independently owned and operated. The league operates year-round, comprising two seasons each calendar year, with the Spring season beginning in March and ending with national playoffs the first weekend in August, and a Fall season with play beginning in September with national playoffs the first weekend in February. The league prides itself on openness, inclusion, and accessibility.

INTRODUCTIONPROGRAM DETAILS

The Summer Skills Soccer Training Academy is a specialized camp for boys and girls focused on developing technical skills during the summer months. Skills Training Academy offers intensive training sessions, often led by experienced coaches and Sporting Director, to help players improve various aspects of their game, such as:

Focus on significant technical touches through repetitive work on the ball.
Skills that build the relationship between a player’s feet and ball
Offer a technique-driven focus for each player
Increased Game Confidence and Creativity
Develop the early basis for feinting and beating an opponent 1v1
Cutting, drawing, and turning with the ball to escape from your opponent

Sessions are conducted by members of the Manitou FC Coaching Staff. These coaches are experienced members of our coaching staff who are exceptional coach-educators and former professional players.

These programs cater to various ages and skill levels, from beginner youth players to advanced and elite athletes looking to improve their game.

Futsal Futura training focuses on enhancing skills through the fast-paced, small-sided version of soccer played indoors. Futsal is known for improving a player’s technical abilities, quick decision-making, and creativity. Training typically involves the following aspects:

Key Areas of Futsal Training:

Ball Control and Dribbling: Due to the smaller, heavier ball and tighter spaces, players develop precise control, quick footwork, and agility.
Passing and Receiving: Fast, accurate passing is essential in futsal. Training emphasizes one-touch passes, short passes, and understanding angles to receive the ball under pressure.
Quick Decision-Making: The confined space forces players to make split-second decisions, which helps improve their soccer IQ and awareness.
Shooting and Finishing: Futsal provides plenty of scoring opportunities. Players are trained to shoot from various angles and positions with accuracy and power, often using different surfaces of the foot.
Movement Off the Ball: With fewer players on the court, movement and positioning are critical. Futsal training teaches players to move smartly, create space, and exploit gaps in the defense.
Defending: Training includes learning how to press quickly, mark opponents, and defend in one-on-one situations with limited space.
Fitness and Agility: Futsal requires constant movement, so training focuses on improving endurance, agility, and the ability to make quick transitions between attack and defense.
